In this day and age we have made so many technological advances; think of how light our computers have become, how fast, we can watch films in 3D, HDTV is becoming popular, ebook readers such as the Amazon Kindle are becoming a preferred way of reading books and newspapers.
We can go further to become paperless and help our planet in the process.
Small Businesses tend to be guilty of was comsuming and wasting too much paper since they tend not to have as many procedures in place. They are more prone to printing off copies of a document for doing things such as proof-reading and filing and so forth. A lot of their working processes tend to be carried on down through the years because “this is the way we have always done it” mentality. Instead of taking a step back and appreciating that we now have scanners, and everyone has a computer, access to email a etc we can email documents from one department to another or from one person to another via email instead of printing out 5 copies of the same document to hand out to a group of people.
If small businesses re-assessed their working methods and started to think how we can use the technology we now have, even that has changed from what we had 5 years ago, they cold probably streamline their whole working methods and become paperless and more organized and a lot more effecient. How much faster is it to access records online than it is to go to a filing cabinet or to ask a fellow colleague where such and such is kept?
Throw away the need to keep copies of important documents and office memorandums and store them digitally on a server.
Amazon is leading the way in our homes and in the way we do things on a personal level ie in the way we read books and magazines. Offices have had computers, email systems, scanners and so forth for the many years now and they should be leading the way to going the paperless route. Many are already doing it but we need many more to start following.
